#Thankful

How did October go for you? If you are in a place that celebrates Halloween (which fell on a Monday this year!) I’m sure the transition into November was a tiring one!

November focuses on being Thankful. We have all been in our roles for at least 8 weeks at this point, and if you’re in a new one like I am, I feel you! It is TOUGH to start a new position, to start a new school year, a new class, a new administration, etc., etc., etc.

Instead of focusing on what we’re struggling with at this point, let’s share what we are THANKFUL for. Do you have amazing colleagues? A student that makes it a joy to come to work each day? The most amazing office staff on the planet? Tag them, celebrate them, and let them know they are appreciated. Share the GOOD. I’ll start.

I moved into a new position over Labor Day weekend and started school about 4 days before the students did. My staff, Principal (@HornetPrincipal), Central Office administration (@SuperScot, @EducateSaline, @CEllis14) and office staff have been absolutely amazing. My colleagues (@HarvestLearning, @HERPrincipal, @WMPrincipal, @SASMiddle, @SalineMiddleAP, @MussonPR and #SAVMP mentee @APSchukow) have been so welcoming and awesome to learn from, and I feel like I’m making a difference every day. No matter how small or how big, we all have wonderful things to share. What are yours?

Thankfully,

Theresa

What am I thankful for? There are so many things I have to be thankful for it is hard to know where to start. I work for a great superintendent. I have a staff that is willing to try whatever crazy idea I may come up with, as long as it is good for the kids. I have come up with some crazy ones too. I have students that are happy to be here. Last year we had our highest attendance rate ever with a rate of 98.14%. Recently I have started a weight loss program and have had students ask if I was sick since I was losing weight. I am blessed to have such great students in our building. Our parents are very supportive of what we are doing. For that, I am truly thankful. I have a wife that teaches as well, so she understands why I might come back to the school 3 or 4 nights a week because there is a group of students in the building doing something. She knows my job does not end when I leave the building, that sometimes I have to take calls or emails at home. I am thankful to start a new Mentor/Mentee relationship with Todd Schmidt (@tsschmidty).

This November I am truly thankful for all God has blessed me with.

Excellent video! I have too many blessings to list. First and foremost, my health and then my family, then my work as a principal. I guess I am creating a list, huh? #Thankful

@PrincipalStager thank you for an amazing post! It is a privilege to be your colleague. I feel so thankful to be part of our team. Each day I learn from and am amazed by the work of each of the colleagues you listed. This year I began working with @HERprincipal as she became principal at my school. So thankful to have her guidance, leadership and mentorship. The staff, students and community of my school are amazing. I am so thankful to work with a staff who cares deeply about students. For students who care about their education and treating each other with kindness. And for a community that is so supportive of its school system. There is so much to be thankful for each day.
